Prepare TV stands. A TCL C745 QLED TV with a diagonal of 55 inches (139 cm) arrived at our editorial office for testing. Thanks to its high refresh rate and some modes, it boasts the English adjective “gaming”. So let’s shed some light on it.
Gaming TV, up to 240 Hz and QLED
TCL introduced its C745 model in four sizes. From the universal 55-inch version we tested, you can go through 65 or 75 inches to a giant model with 85 inches, which corresponds to 214 cm. The TVs use QLED technology – that is, diodes with a layer of quantum dots and zone-controlled backlighting across the entire surface. The color spectrum of their images covers 94% of the DCI-P3 gamut standard (a wider gamut, as an alternative to Adobe RGB). The screen resolution is standard 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 16:9.
Good connection, simple design
The design of the TCL 55C745 is very simple and once out of the box, all you have to do is screw the center base to the TV using four screws or use a VESA mount for the 400 x 400mm size. At the bottom you will only find a thin strip with the manufacturer’s logo and an indicator diode, otherwise the lines are clear and the display frames are very thin. The range of connectors is quite sufficient – you will find three HDMI connectors (including an option with eARC support), a classic AV input, RJ-45 for a fixed Internet connection, USB, an optical audio jack, as well as a standard 3.5-inch connector.
Treble for Gamers
The screen has elegant thin bezels and boasts a high variable refresh rate clocking in between 48-144Hz. This, of course, is one of the main aspects why television can be considered gaming. With DLG technology, the TV can even deliver a 240Hz refresh rate when Game Mode is activated. However, keep in mind that such a high value can only be achieved at 1080p resolution. In addition, TCL provides frame rate synchronization via AMD FreeSync. It is also compatible with the use of HDR Gaming Interest Groups (HGiG).

Overall I rate the picture very well. The color gamut is vibrant, the contrast is excellent, and I love the ability to use the very high refresh rate. You will appreciate this not only with the latest generation of consoles, but also in combination with a powerful computer. In addition, TCL also offers additional gaming features through a dedicated panel that is activated by long holding the menu button after switching to the gaming input. The TV will then be able to take screenshots, create its own crosshair on the screen so you can aim well in any situation, and other little things. Some of the software’s translation imperfections are a little funny – for example, the “menu” option on this game bar is translated as “menu”.
After connecting the laptop, I spent some time trying to get the non-redundant mode to work at the correct frequency and resolution. In the end, everything worked out very well. For gaming, I chose the classic 1080p resolution, which is FullHD, and tried different types of games: from Hogwarts Legacy to Dave The Diver and various small “couch games”. I must admit that it’s comfortable to play, and the TV gets along with the consoles.
