Last January, it was announced that the American studio Vicarious Visions, originally owned by Activision, would be transferred to a subsidiary of Blizzard Entertainment. Developers have had quality remasters in recent years that border on remakes, whether it’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, or last year’s Diablo II: Resurrected.
Yesterday we learned that the connection with Blizzard has already ended. The team will remain in their Albany office, but will no longer focus exclusively on Blizzard games. Also, they are likely to expire as the studio sent us to follow them on the official Blizzard account.
Fans have not yet received this change very positively, only because this undoubtedly talented team will now only be able to work with a very limited set of brands. Of course, the question is how Microsoft’s acquisition of conglomerate Activision Blizzard will play out in all of this, but it shouldn’t be completed until next year.
We have officially teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment. Our development team will remain in Albany, New York and will be fully committed to Blizzard games. We invite you to follow us @Blizzard_Ent
