The Association of Czech Game Developers has announced a new event, Game Developers Session Prague, which has a relatively rich history but wants to open up to the general public this year. It will take place on December 8 and 9 at the Prague Congress Center.
The main attraction is mainly domestic and foreign authors, of whom there are supposed to be more than 80, and they have prepared interesting lectures and master classes. At the same time, various indie games will be presented on the site, and the event itself will be preceded by a game jam.
New Zealand creator Dean Hall, who was at the origins of DayZ, American developer and producer Brian Fargo, who founded the Interplay and inXile Entertainment studios (Wasteland series, Clockwork Revolution), artist Jakub Dvorsky from the Amanita Design studio, executive producer Martik Klima. Representatives of Warhorse Studios or Marek Roza, head of the Keen Software House studio behind the name Space Engineers, have been announced as speakers.
The event is intended for both professional developers and the general public, including those who just want to break into the gaming industry. GDS is also aimed at high school and college students, with a number of whom the event has established collaborations with.
“The global game development industry is a creative sector that has long surpassed the music and film industries combined. The demand for professionals in this industry is growing at a rapid pace, but still very few schools have sufficient funds and resources to be able to offer students this highly attractive career. That is why, in cooperation with schools, leading Czech game developers and our association, we have prepared a conference aimed at students and their teachers, which should help the development of this field,” says Pavel Barak, Chairman of the Association of Czech Game Developers, about the event.
