The head of Xbox, or rather the gaming division of Microsoft, said this in an interview with the Japanese Game Watch server in response to a question about a possible increase in the price of Xbox Game Pass. At the same time you recognizes the need to offer subscribers additional value.

“We have recently increased the price and this decision was made after careful consideration. We believe it is important to provide a service that is considered to be of sufficient value even at a higher price.” Spencer stated.

Starfield, most likely thanks to Game Pass, reached 10 million players in less than three weeks. Neither Microsoft nor Bethesda are talking about sales. This sci-fi adventure RPG has 330,723 concurrent players on Steam. According to Spencer, constant updates are important for continued success and player retention. Bethesda Game Studios is actively working on fixes and updates.

It’s important for Microsoft to regularly offer interesting games.. He’s planning the next few years of fun. It includes working with Japanese studios to develop new games for the Xbox, some of which have yet to be announced. Spencer emphasized the quality of Japanese developers and praised Hi-Fi RUSH from Tango Gameworks, a division of Bethesda.

When might the inevitable price increase occur? The first opportunity is approaching after adding Activision Blizzard games to Game Pass. Last week the UK Competition and Markets Authority gave preliminary approval to the landmark $68.7 billion acquisition. It’s only a matter of time before established and popular brands expand their subscription offerings, including Crash Bandicoot, Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft or Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. And, of course, Call of Duty, which due to the current contract with Sony, most likely will not be available until 2025. It must be remembered that Spencer previously pointed out the complexity of the entire process. Adding Activision Blizzard games to Game Pass will not be automatic and will take time.

Xbox Game Pass for consoles costs 269 CZK per month (10.99 EUR), Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs 389 CZK per month (14.99 EUR), PC Game Pass costs 259 CZK per month (9.99 EUR), and Xbox Game Pass Core costs 149 CZK / 6.99 € per month (offers more than 25 selected games, the ability to play online).

Microsoft recently stopped testing the Friends and Family plan. During testing, the subscription cost €21.99 per month (approx. CZK 540) and allowed Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (with EA Play) to be shared between 5 players from the same country.
