At a time when Nathan Drake reigned over the action-adventure genre, Microsoft had to strive to create its own game with a cinematic experience full of explosions, rock climbing, and secret agents. Liam Robertson from Did You Know Gaming? channel provided information.

The studio worked on the development of Uncharted for Xbox. Black tuskwhich we know today as Coalitioncreator of Gears of War 4 and Gears 5. Initially, the developers were responsible for an experimental game from the world Halo for Kinectbut Microsoft later turned its attention elsewhere – they wanted a game that would combine the cinematic concept of Uncharted with the tension of spy films such as Mission: Impossible.

The project even had its own hero named Cole, played by the actor Liam McIntyre – the same one who currently voices Wolverine in the upcoming Insomniac Games game. The game promised cinematic shootouts, adrenaline rushes and epic scenery that were then the preserve of the rival PlayStation.

Robertson says in his video that Savannah College of Art and Design students were also involved in the development, creating concepts for the setting and characters. They say that some samples from the project even flashed during E3 2013 – although under a different name and without clear confirmation of what exactly.

Microsoft had to hope that the project would come true new iconic Xbox brand. But disagreements developed. According to reports, development was slowed down due to disagreements between Microsoft management and the studio itself. Finally it was decided that Black Tusk will take over the Gears of War series under the leadership of Rod Ferguson. And with this, the fate of “Uncharted for Xbox” was finally decided.

In the video posted, you can see leaked concept art, as well as footage from an early version of the game, showing that the project has potential – both visually and conceptually. But all that remains of an ambitious dream that could compete with Uncharted are memories and some materials.
