Journalist Jason Schreier reported some surprising news for Bloomberg today. Stig Asmussen, game director for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is leaving Respawn and Electronic Arts. We don’t yet know the exact reason for his departure and where Asmussen will go if he remains in the gaming industry at all. According to an EA representative, experienced developers will take over the leadership of the Respawn team.

Asmussen himself is definitely one of the game development veterans. He began his career at Midway Games, and then moved to Sony Santa Monica, where he participated in the creation of the God of War series. In the first part as a leading environment artist, in the second part as an art director and in the third part as a game director. In 2014, he left the studio for Respawn, where he became game director for the Star Wars Jedi series, which somewhat marked EA’s renewed interest in single-player games.

We don’t yet know what exactly will happen to the series. The developers are still working on Jedi: Survivor, we received a big patch a few days ago, and a conversion for PS4 and Xbox One is coming soon. However, Asmussen stated even before the release that he would like to make a trilogy. Will this apply even after he’s gone? We’ll have to wait for that.
