According to Sega, SuperGame should meet multiple criteria. It must be cross-platform, developed by an international team, published simultaneously worldwide, and must be AAA title. In short, this means that the game will be successful all over the world. At the same time, each should be different and go beyond the traditional framework.

These projects must be created using Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games, and some are also considering Microsoft Azure cloud technology.

“Sega offers a wide range of gaming content, including hardware and arcades, made possible by a variety of technologies.” says the Japanese company in an announcement. “We have defined ‘SuperGame’ as the development of AAA games that span Segy’s comprehensive technology offering, and we will strive to achieve this in our five-year plan.”

“More games will be developed within SuperGame. Despite the fact that each heading will be differentthere is no doubt that these will be interactive games that go beyond traditional games.”

“For example, before people who played games were called players, but now watching games has become a separate culture, and such people can no longer be called players. I believe that the relationship between people who play and watch games has a lot of potential. Within these options, we are looking at creating new entertainment options.”

Several such projects are currently underway at Sega. They are at an early stage and involved about 50 people. “We expect the final number of employees to be several hundred,” adds ads.

Sega is not forgetting about new technologies in the form of the cloud and NFT.

“In the past, games have evolved through a combination of different cultures and technologies,” explains the Sega producer. Among the most recent examples, he mentioned social media and watching gaming videos. An expansion to cloud gaming and NFTs is now expected. “We’re also evolving SuperGame in terms of the extent to which different games can be connected.”
