At Gamescom, I saw the presentation of the New Arc Line game behind closed doors. This is a very interesting isometric RPG from the Ukrainian team Dreamate Games and published by the Czech company Fulqrum Publishing. The game boasts a very interesting setting in a world that combines magic and technology. The developers were admittedly inspired by the 2001 classic Arcanum. And although the city we arrive as refugees looks rosy at first glance, dark secrets, segregation and corruption lurk inside.
Like almost any other role-playing game, New Arc Line offers extensive character creation options. In addition to such classics as plot backstory, appearance or gender, you can also choose the race itself. In general, you will have to play not for a person, but for an elf, dwarf or giant. A very interesting factor is that the appearance itself will play an important role, because based on it, the inhabitants will treat you differently, perhaps with some prejudice. Of course, you will not be alone, gradually you will meet other characters who can help you along the way. But it depends only on you whether you become real friends or just use them for your own purposes.
Of course, there are also real-time combats, not turn-based ones. In them, you will take full advantage of your abilities, which you will gradually unlock. The developers promise a complex system with 6 classes and 12 subclasses. And while it’s possible to mix a bit of magic and technology, the authors told me that you can’t remain completely neutral, and you still have to side with one of the two sides. Of course, it’s a shame that you do not have complete freedom, but even in this case, it seems that we are waiting for a really large portion of decisions. Thanks to them, the game should also provide good replay value, although even one playthrough will take you several tens of hours. Perhaps what interested me most was the fact that the world must be very reactive. Your actions should be reflected, for example, they will be written about in a newspaper.
New Arc Line sounds very ambitious in every way and I’m very curious to see what the final product will look like. I haven’t seen anything from the game, except for the trailer, so it’s still hard for me to judge something, but the title from the presentation definitely interested me. I wish the developers the best of luck with development as it must be very difficult in the current situation and I’m already looking forward to the full release. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next year.
