Half-Life 2 is getting an RTX remaster

Along with the announcement of DLSS 3.5, or path tracing in Alan Wake 2, Nvidia has another very exciting piece of news. If the first Half-Life received a path tracing modification a few months ago, now we have learned that an RTX remaster is being created for the second part of this famous series from Valve.

Four teams of modders are working on it, which have united under the name Orbifold Studios. The remaster was created on the RTX Remix platform, like, for example, Portal RTX. Path tracing (full ray tracing) will be implemented in the improved Half-Life 2, resulting in much more realistic lighting in the game.

At the same time, you can look forward to more detailed textures and more complex models. There is also an implementation of technologies such as DLSS 3 (DLSS upscaling, image generation and Reflex) or RTX IO for fast loading.

Unfortunately, Half-Life 2 RTX is at a relatively early stage of development and the studio is still looking for new employees. So we’ll probably have to wait for the release.
