Ubisoft has named a new boss A big difference. He has been in charge of the action game series since August of this year. Drew Holmes, an accomplished screenwriter and narrative designer. He was the previous boss of Far Cry. Dan Haywho left Ubisoft in 2021. He worked at the Montreal studio for 10 years and curated the series during its most successful period. Now he leads development of a new survival in Blizzard.
Drew Holmes boasted about his promotion on LinkedIn: “It’s been an exciting few months… I’m delighted to announce that I’m taking on my new role as Head of Far Cry at Ubisoft. Great things await you. Feel free to contact us if you would like to take part in the further development of this wonderful brand!”
Holmes was the head writer for 2019’s Far Cry: New Dawn and 2018’s Far Cry 5. He was also lead writer on Irrational Games’ BioShock Infinite and worked on the first three Saints Row games at Voliton.
Ubisoft is now set to Far Cry 7 and a separate out-of-this-world multiplayer game. Rumored to be the new Far Cry be created in the Snowdrop engine (the technology behind The Division series) rather than the Dunia engine used in the later installments of the series. The creators of Splinter Cell should help in development, and at least the project should be online the action takes place in the desert of Alaska and bet big on your difficulty.
Let’s hope Holmes can get Far Cry back on track since the last installments haven’t been as successful. Personally, I would like some non-traditional details Far Cry Primal since 2016. And you?
It looks like Ubisoft will be betting big on Massive Entertainment’s Snowdrop. It was created for The Division and later used in both Mario + Rabbids and The Settlers: New Allies. It will also be used in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, XDefiant, Star Wars Outlaws and Splinter Cell Remake.
