Baldur’s Gate 3 subtitles will have matching translator names

Larian Studios will add end credits as part of the first patch Baldur’s Gate 3 about the names of translators that are not in the current version. After receiving the warning, the studio requested full listings from a third-party company, Altagram, which initially only listed high-ranking personnel.

The absence of some names in the subtitles was pointed out by another translator, Mark E.G., on Twitter. “The translators worked on Baldur’s Gate 3 for three years and translated over a million words, and the Altagram Group only listed their supervisors. To make it clear: such a procedure is always unethical, but here, as before with Persona, it is absolutely EVIL, ”he wrote. The Spanish translator Fernando Moreiras, mentioned along with his colleagues in the subtitles, even talks about four years of work and two and a half million words.

“As soon as we became aware of this, we immediately took corrective action in cooperation with Altagram,” a spokesperson for Larian told Eurogamer. “We contacted them and instructed them to fix it.”

This is far from the first time video game titles are missing the names of the translators or other developers who worked on the title. In the spring, we wrote about the lack of translators in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
