As part of the publication of its financial results for the past quarter, the American company Take-Two Interactive disclosed updated sales of their leading publications and opened my eyes to the future. The publisher’s representatives for the first time reported that total sales were up 20% year-over-year to $1.2 billion. In terms of individual titles, the ageless GTA 5 continues to play premium, selling another 5 million copies in the last quarter.

Only the fifth GTA has already been sold since the release over 185 million pieces, making it the second best-selling game in history, behind only Minecraft (over 238 million copies). The Grand Theft Auto series itself has crossed the 450 million mark in all parts. Red Dead Redemption 2 also continues to sell well, with over 55 million copies sold in total.

As we look to the future, the statement from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is especially worth paying attention to. In a conversation with investors, he specifically addressed fiscal year 2025, which should bring a significant breakthrough and record financial results. A very similar message was made by Take-Two management three months ago. Even then, it was said that the big turning point would most likely be the release of GTA VI. If that were indeed the case, that would mean we’d see the game between April next year and March 2025.
