Chinese tech giant tencent becomes the majority shareholder of the Polish studio techlandwho is behind the zombie series dying light.
“Today I am pleased to announce a partnership with Tencent, which now becomes the majority shareholder of Techland. The connection with Tencent will allow us to fully realize the vision of our games. We have chosen an ally who has already worked with some of the world’s best video game companies and helped them reach new heights while respecting their way of working.” Techland CEO Pavel Marchevka said.
Marchevka, who founded the company in 1991, boasts several important things. They will retain full ownership of their video game brands.they have anyway preserve creative and artistic freedom and will continue to work independently.
Marchevka remains CEO of Techland and has big plans. He wants to make Dying Light the perfect zombie game for players around the world, offering amazing adventures and pushing the boundaries of solo and online modes to a whole new level. At the same time, they want to make sure the new fantasy RPG lives up to the expectations expected from their first new brands in nearly a decade.
In addition to additional support for Dying Light 2, Techland is working on brand new role playing game The action takes place in an open fantasy world. A number of former CD Projekt RED employees are working on it (Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher trilogy).
