The poorly received remaster of the original Ark has been delayed. On the other hand, Wildcard Studio has at least partially listened to the opinion of the players and will sell Ark: Survival Ascended cheaper.
The Ark: Survival Ascended this is a remaster The Ark: Survival Evolvedwho works for Unreal Engine 5 and is intended for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The remake was originally supposed to come out sometime in August. It has now been pushed back to October. This is to give developers enough time to get familiar with working in Unreal Engine 5.2, which is a lot of work. Especially since every day they discover new ways to take technology to the next level.
With a delay, further changes occur. The updated maps of The Island and Scorched Earth have been separated. The latter will be added to survival only in December. Now the developers are focused on improving The Island. Additional Ragnarok and Aberration maps will arrive in the first quarter of 2024, with the rest of the maps coming later.
Two things are still connected to everything. The controversial closure of the original Ark: Survival Evolved is being pushed back to September 30th. (previously 31.8.). And due to less content, the remaster will sell for $45/€ (around 1,070 CZK); with a launch discount, it will drop to $40/EUR (around 950 CZK). Initially, the remaster was supposed to sell for 60 dollars / euros.
The question is, is this good news? Many players of the original Ark see the remaster as just Wildcard’s attempt to make more money, especially with the server shutdown. So this is a forced upgrade to a newer version that is not free. The authors defend themselves by saying that the remaster will be a significant leap forward, will use Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI technologies. We’ll see gameplay soon.
Then comes a completely different development. Ark 2. It should release in late 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
