The next generation of Nvidia graphics cards will be released no earlier than 2025

Nvidia has already released almost the entire line of graphics cards of the current RTX 40 series, the latest addition in the form of the RTX 4060 will hit the market on Thursday, so talk about the next generation, i.e. RTX 50. According to some leaks, it should be called Blackwell, but while this is not certain, it may just be a codename for a workstation GPU. In any case, it’s not that important, what’s more interesting is that a new roadmap has appeared on the Internet through the Hardwareluxx website that shows future Nvidia products in different segments. And according to her, the next generation of game graphics is scheduled for no earlier than 2025.

While this isn’t the first time there’s been rumors of a later release, a 3nm GPU latency has been widely mentioned previously, but this is the first official confirmation that the delay will affect gaming graphics cards. And why is this such big news? For over a decade now, Nvidia has maintained a roughly two-year release cycle for new architectures:

  • Fermi (GeForce 400 and 500) – 2010
  • Kepler (GeForce 600 and 700) – 2012
  • Maxwell (GeForce 900) – 2014
  • Pascal (GeForce 10) – 2016
  • Turing (GeForce RTX 20) – 2018
  • Amp (GeForce RTX 30) – 2020
  • Lovelace (GeForce RTX 40) – 2022

So this will be the first exception in a very long time. It is not yet known exactly when the maps will appear in 2025, it is quite possible that somewhere in the beginning. However, this does mean some delay compared to regular plans. AMD could potentially download it as the next generation in the form of RDNA 4 is still due next year. Similarly, Battlemage graphics cards, i.e. the second generation of Intel Arc GPUs, should be released in 2024.
