It’s quite common for development studios to partner with a hardware manufacturer on certain projects, and the upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield is no exception. It has been announced that Bethesda is working on this game with AMD. In a short video, in general, it talks about the implementation of various technologies, for the game the developers use their own engine called Creation Engine 2. We wrote earlier about the technical side of Starfield in more detail.
However, by far the biggest topic is scaling technology. Of course, the video confirmed that we will see the implementation of FSR 2 from AMD, but it is not yet clear what will happen with DLSS from Nvidia and XeSS from Intel. As we wrote a few days ago in the HW review, AMD collaboration games are often released with FSR lately (like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or Resident Evil 4) and other technologies are missing. It is likely that AMD explicitly blocks them, since the implementation should not be complicated, but the company answered evasively to a direct question from Wccftech magazine, which touched on this topic. We’ll still have to wait and see how things go with Starfield.
The game releases September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
