The Association of Slovak Game Developers has published a detailed report on the Slovak video game industry for 2022 and information about companies creating games in Slovakia.
Slovak game industry decreased slightly for the first time in 2022. Its total turnover fell from 80 million euros for 2021 to 77.1 million euros. There are currently 66 gaming companies in Slovakia employing 1,080 people. The figure is comparable to last year. It has the most employees Bratislava Studio Pixel Federation. Other large companies include those from Bratislava. super scale, Power Play Studio, KORPO or Games Nine Stoneswhich is owned by THQ Nordic and created the hunting action Way of the Hunter last year.
40.9% of companies have been operating in Slovakia for five years or more. In 2022, Slovak developers released up to 49 of their own games. Another 168 projects have been created in the form of cooperation with another organization, and 282 games are being actively worked on. 72.7% of developers in Slovakia focus on PC, while 31.8% focus on mobile devices.
Slovak developers mainly publish games themselves, without the help of foreign publishers, and finance development at their own expense (65.2%) or in the form of state funding (37.9%).
