Czech studio Charles Games informed us about a major update for their Bicarbonation. This took the free maps climate strategy to a whole new level. It brings a significant graphical redesign, over 30 brand new maps, new artwork, and a hardcore mode for advanced players. The game system itself has also undergone significant changes, now it has become more reliable and allows you to use more complex strategies.
“We were thrilled with the global success of Beecarbonize and started working on improvements almost immediately.” say developers Alex Petrova and Lucy Tvarokhova. “Especially the more experienced Beecarbonize players finished the game quite quickly – for them we have prepared a higher difficulty mode and achievements that motivate them to study the game thoroughly and come up with more complex strategies, now players also have the opportunity to compare their results with others.” Petrova explains.
Over 30 new cards depict technological or social advances or natural disasters. “We have significantly changed the user interface of the game to make it more understandable, accessible and readable. The vast majority of gamers play the game on smaller displays, so we’ve adapted it for that.” says Tvarohova. “We also took into account a number of suggestions from our players in order to make the gaming experience even better and at the same time not lose the idea with which we created the game, that is, to show people how difficult the problem of climate change is. .” adds Tvarokhov.
In Beecarbonize you have a task save the planet. The free game was downloaded by tens of thousands of players around the world in the first three months and is available for Android, iOS and PC. In addition, the game received a prestigious nomination for the Apple Design Award.
Charles Games created Beecarbonize in collaboration with climate experts from People in Need. In addition to the Apple Design Award nomination, the game is in the finals of the Games for Change competition or at the Brazilian BIG festival.
