The creators rely on the path creation system from the previous part, which they have modified and improved. The goal was to make the game enjoyable for both original Cities: Skylines players and new players. Most of the changes are intended to make it easier and faster to build and manage roads, or to give players more freedom when creating them. Among other things, the authors based on what was suggested / edited by the fans themselves through numerous modifications.

Much attention is paid to how intersections work.. They will be created automatically when you drag a road over existing roads. Roundabouts can be created directly at the existing intersection. Just choose the size you want and place the roundabout at the intersection. The tool automatically adapts the design to existing roads so that all lanes intelligently pass through the roundabout.

There are also new options for motorway exits, bus lanes, tram tracks, pedestrian areas and noise barriers on busy roads. In Cities: Skylines 2 you will have more direct control over the placement of traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and permitted directions of traffic at intersections.

Another novelty – parkingwhere residents of your city can park their cars. Be it classic parking lots or garages. Residents now consider the availability of parking spaces when planning their route around the city, and in the same way they approach travel by public transport. Residents have different preferences. Some prefer to park as close to their destination as possible and don’t care how long it takes to get there, while others are willing to go a little farther.

Roads are important to maintain. Thus, it is necessary to build a road management department that will repair roads and clear snow in winter. Poor road maintenance slows down traffic and can lead to accidents. The same applies to snow.

What remains, as it turns out, from the old is one ailment. We are talking about the construction of residential and other areas, which, according to the video remaining through the grid. This means that roads built in an arc will again have gaps in the terrain. Just as shown in the image below from one Reddit fan.

Czech and Slovak fans pay more attention to the news in the first daily edition on their page here. Next week, the developers will focus on how vehicles and pedestrians move around the world.

Cities: Skylines 2 will release on 10/24/2023 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, including Game Pass.
