11/11/2022 is the date we were originally supposed to play. Starfield. But Bethesda and Microsoft have shelved the ambitious space RPG to focus more on it and tweak everything, including optimizations and bugs. What has changed during this time? So comparing the new and old version of Starfield gives a pretty good answer to this question.
The video compares the 2022 version of Starfield to what we recently saw in the live special. A new version works on Xbox Series X and indicates an improvement, although deterioration is also evident. Faces, beards and hair are of lower quality, probably due to optimization. Players especially complain about the eyes, which they say seem lifeless and maybe even worse than the characters in previous generation games.

From this point of view, last year’s version should look like a remaster. On the other hand, this year’s version has better lighting and it looks like the developers at Bethesda have managed to maintain the quality of the environment. They improved some scenes and changed the time of day in some scenes.
So, we’ll see what Starfield will look like on September 6th when it launches on Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will be available on Game Pass on the same day.
