The inevitable happened. Two and a half years after the launch of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles, Microsoft is saying goodbye to the previous generation. None of the company’s internal teams are developing the game for Xbox One.

Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, confirmed this in an interview with Axios, stating that all 23 internal Microsoft studios have moved to the 9th generation, and all future games are being developed with the Xbox Series X/S (and PC) in mind.. This allows developers not to think about the limitations that ten-year-old hardware has, including the lack of a fast SSD.

If you don’t want to say goodbye to Xbox One or can’t afford a new console just yet, Booty is reminding you to play new games through the service. Xbox Cloud Streamingwhich is available as part of an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Thus, they intend to continue to support the older generation. Microsoft started this approach last year when it offered the demanding Flight Simulator and is slowly expanding the offering to include Redfall and A Plague Tale: Requiem. Here, for those interested, is the official page where you can find more information about cloud gaming and a list of supported games.
