Impressions of the game Alteira – Zing

Alteira is a Czech browser-based RPG set in a world full of monsters, enemies and various traps. The game is currently in beta testing, where we decided to test it. Below you can read how some of the mechanisms actually work and what we have to say about the game.

Here are the classic basics

The world of the Czech browser-based RPG Alteira is based on the classic fantasy foundations that the creators are trying to draw you into. In addition to the usual gameplay, there is also a plot that reveals more about the history of the place. The plot is quite simple, but it cannot be said that it cannot be interesting. Another positive is the fact that both the story and other aspects of the game are presented to the players in Czech, which means that you mostly deal with monsters and not with foreign words.

At the beginning of your story, you become an ordinary farmer who simply decided that he didn’t like working on the land anymore, so he took a pitchfork and started fighting local pests. Enemies were everywhere. A smuggler was waiting for him on the boat. Elsewhere he had to face dragons, and nearby a group of grumpy workers from the local mines were waiting for him, who were also tired of work and therefore decided to change their lives. Unfortunately for them, they only did it after your hero. The idea of encounters in Alteira is based on a simple automatic score that can only be affected by buff potions with a limited duration, but not directly. And this, both during fights with monsters, and with other people that you meet in the arena.

One factor that actively determines which way the scales will tip in Alteira is which playable class you choose once you reach level 15. Your character can become a Manhunter, a Pyromage, or even a Paladin. Each of the heroes has special abilities and characteristics. For example, a steelworker is able to stun his enemies, making them easy targets for his strikes throughout the round. In turn, the Pyromage casts fire spells on opponents, taking away 10-20% of the health from the burnt juice. There are plenty of options in this regard, and in the end it’s not at all easy to choose, because all professions have some kind of interesting direction that can be additionally reinforced with skill points and focus.

Wrestling is just a profession, and you need to adapt to this fact as best as possible. There are surprisingly many forms of focus. Combat can increase your defense or attack in Alteira, and economic can increase your earnings. For us, however, the environmental focus was the obvious choice, mainly because they could increase energy or the chance that when traveling you would find a key to chests located in temples where there is a lot of equipment. always waiting for you. And it is the equipment that forms another aspect, which often determines how the battle with the boss or one of the many players participating in the arena fights actually turns out.

Not without equipment

You will find many items on your travels through dark dungeons, pirate ships and other places full of enemies. Luckily for you, they can be actively worked with later on. One option is to equip your hero with equipment, thereby effectively strengthening it. But there is an alternative in the form of traders. They are ready to buy almost everything you have in your bag from you in Alteira, so even seemingly useless equipment at such a moment is a source of funds. You can then buy the hardware of your choice with them. You are offered helmets, robes, shields and weapons that the hero can arm himself with. If for some reason the current offer does not suit you, nothing prevents you from asking the merchant once a day to throw the goods hidden in the warehouse into the store. In case that doesn’t suit you either, gold goes further.

As is often the case in this genre, gold bars can buy a lot. In Alteira, you can use it to change the offers of the store, skip tasks, rest, improve equipment or restore energy. This is an element that can be worked with at least in the first levels in order to efficiently work with resources and defeat monsters. However, since you need more experience, you don’t get enough stamina, which can eventually be solved by either gold-insured rest or magic potions that can be pumped very hard, so that you can feel like Geralt of Rivia at certain points.

It’s just that you won’t have any side effects, as you’ll often be throwing potions at yourself with the grace of a pub regular, trying to level up and open up a flow of free energy, which is very nice, like anything that doesn’t cost any resources. However, in order not to offend the creators of Alteyra, it is necessary to write that working with energy here makes sense. Gold, with which it can be quickly restored, is also an element that can be worked with and obtained, for example, by completing tasks. Bricks are not the only thing you can work with in transactions.

There is also silver, the use of which in Alteira is as varied as that of gold. For it, you can buy the already mentioned combat equipment, potions or coaching time. The trainer at the ranger camp can train you, but as you progress, the difficulty of some stats increases, which eventually leads to you having to think carefully about what to focus on. Money does not grow on trees, but is waiting for you in the pub, where the owner of the pub has a decent amount of resources, items and experience points for all completed tasks.

Alteira development is not finished yet

In conclusion, we can say that our impressions of the game in Alteira are extremely positive. It’s a good browser project with story and monsters, and in many ways follows in the footsteps of established brands, but we certainly do not consider this a mistake. The main thing will be how the creators manage to stand out from the competition in the final version and, above all, whether they manage to properly balance the free game elements and aspects related to the game currency.

A common mistake with these projects is that they simply fail to optimize them properly, after which not only does their lifespan rapidly decrease, but their enjoyment as well, as the pressure to buy in-game currency is too great. So let’s see how it goes. All that is known now is that Alteira has potential. How far its creators manage to use it depends on them. However, it will be interesting to see what they bring us in the future.
