Yesterday’s WWDC 2023 event hosted by Apple basically brought us details about the Vision Pro VR headset. But this is not the only novelty related to the game on Apple platforms. This proves the output of the famous constructor Hideo Kojimawho announced during WWDC 2023 that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut Coming to Mac.

Kojima says that Kojima Productions’ extended version of Death Stranding, which was released in 2019 on PS5 and a year later on PC, uses the latest Apple technologies, including Apple Silicon, Metal 3 or MetalFX upscaling, with which you can achieve a more advanced visual effect. The well-known designer also expressed his hope that other game creators will also use the processing power that these technologies offer to create revolutionary and new experiences.

But the most interesting is the announcement that Kojima Productions’ upcoming games are currently working on Mac as well. Kojima didn’t say anything specifically, but it naturally offers itself Death Thread 2 as the only upcoming studio project to be presented in greater detail. Officially, Death Stranding 2 is currently only in development for the PlayStation 5 version, but given the experience with the first part and the fact that Kojima hasn’t always been loyal to Sony consoles in the past, a PC version is probably just a matter of time. . time. AND there’s now a chance that Death Stranding 2 won’t stay on PS5 foreverincreased significantly.

It’s just a pity that Kojima’s exit seemed relatively clumsy. The whole presentation gave us a rather sterile impression, which is not unusual for Apple, but especially the passage in which the famous designer appeared looks like Kojima came to the company premises, recited a few pre-prepared phrases, put a wad of money in his pocket and left again. Of course not everyone has to be like that. Geoff Keighley, host and organizer of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, who treats every installment of Kojima like the event of the decade, and who you can also meet while playing Death Stranding. But if Apple wants to give the impression that it cares about the future of Mac gaming, it probably shouldn’t treat having such an icon as just another item on a long list of things to hear during a presentation.

In any case, Mac users should be prepared for a slightly strange gaming experience on their device. Kojima hasn’t said exactly when Death Stranding: Director’s Cut will be released for Mac, but it will happen sometime this year. Pre-orders through the Mac App Store will be launched soon.
