We recently received a new trailer for the game Alan Wake 2 (analysis here), but this is only the beginning of the entire marketing campaign that Remedy is preparing. Next week at Summer Game Fest we will have a nonstop gameplay showcase, but for now, the first part of a series of videos has been released that will take us behind the scenes of development. The developers dedicated the first video to the new protagonist named Saga Anderson.
She is a seasoned FBI agent with a knack for solving seemingly intractable cases. However, she is also a mother and can be empathetic, making her an even better investigator. As a new character, he should also bring the story closer to new players who don’t have the experience of the first game. Veterans can look forward to new connections in the Remedy Connected Universe. Creative director Sam Lake says it took a long time to find the right actress for the role. They eventually found her in Melanie Libourd, who became part of a video game for the first time.
While Alan Wake is in another dimension called Dark Place, we are playing Anderson’s Saga in reality. In particular, we will look at the city of Bright Falls, Lake Cauldron, as well as the neighboring city of Watery. To properly capture the nature of the US Northwest, the developers went into the field and used the photogrammetry method – they scanned individual objects (for example, trees) and converted them into a game.
The Anderson saga is not the only one in the game. But what secrets her story hides, we will have to wait.
