A few days ago, leader Dusk Golem teased that in May we will see a new trailer for one of the games in the Silent Hill series. And indeed, it happened, although this is the project that is the least similar to the game of all presented so far, it is more of an interactive series – Silent Hill: Ascension from the creators of Genvid. In addition to the new demo, we received other details that, first of all, remind us of what we have already learned about Silent Hill Transmission.
Ascension is a relatively unique project that will be broadcast live, and the viewers will make their own individual choice. “Even the creators of the project do not know how Silent Hill: Ascension will end,” — written in a press release. The creators expect that not everyone will be able to watch the show live, so most of the key decisions will be made in advance, where all fans can vote. If you want to see what this has led to, you should come to the broadcast itself, where at the same time smaller, situational choices will be decided. But if the audience makes the wrong choice, it could even lead to the death of the character in question.
“In most Silent Hill games, you play as the main character. And basically you keep restarting (the game) until you survive, right?” Genvid CEO Jacob Navok says. “That’s how the single player game works. But in my earliest discussions of Silent Hill: Ascension, I said that there is no reset button. And I meant it completely. So when a character is on a path of destruction and his hope is low, he is likely to leave the story for good.”
The show will be broadcast daily at a predetermined time on the official website, as well as on various applications, which are still being finalized. Again, the creators have to take into account that not everyone has time to watch every episode. Therefore, when you log in, a brief summary of the events that you have missed so far will be available. Each week, all episodes from individual days are combined into one episode, which can then be watched as a classic series. After the end of the entire series, canon will be established, but a kind of “New Game Plus” mode will continue, where the first choice will be locked, and viewers will be able to select the rest to find out what might have happened in different ways.
The writers have yet to reveal how many weeks the entire show will run, but they say it’s more than the length of a Fortnite season. At the same time, it was said in an interview that in terms of graphics, we should expect the same level that we saw in the trailer. The creators have not yet wished to answer the question about the price tag, supposedly there will be no subscription or full price (60/70 €), but most likely there will not be free either.
