Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake won’t be showing up at the PlayStation Showcase today, and we won’t be seeing it in other summer showcases. Three years later, it’s still at the concept stage.
A complete remake of the popular adventure game was announced already in September 2020, and the release will take place in January next year. But the game was heavily criticized by players; especially because of the graphics; which, along with problematic events, caused two delays. Finally he was project moved from Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal.
Experienced creators (the Sands of Time trilogy was born in Ubisoft Montreal, and also the authors of the Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs or Far Cry series) got to the remake a year ago and, as you can see, figured that everything would need to be redone.
“Ever since we took on the project, we’ve been looking to the community for feedback and looking for our own way to make the game. We are now assembling a team, prioritizing, building prototypes, testing elements, and looking for ways to incorporate community feedback into development.” Producer Jean-Francois Naud said today.
“Be sure that we are all putting our strength and heart into this project” added Naud, saying that we don’t expect any news this year. As a result, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake will also not be discussed at Ubisoft Forward in June. There, Ubisoft should show Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Rainbow Six Mobile, Skull and Bones, The Crew Motorfest, The Division Resurgence, XDefiant, and at least one as yet unannounced game. These are the 8 games that Ubisoft plans to release by March 31, 2024. Mystery Game is supposed to be Star Wars from the makers of The Division.
Let’s move on to more happy news. Assassin’s Creed Mirage may see the light of day on December 10 this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This date from today they declare Japanese stores including Amazon.
“Japanese sellers usually don’t date a product unless it’s officially listed. In other words, there is no temporal term to speak of.” he claims on the Gematsu website on Twitter.
Perhaps tonight’s PlayStation Showcase will show the story of Basim, a street thief from Baghdad in the 9th century. The presentation of Ubisoft Fordward 12/6 is confidence.
