This was reported by Reuters, citing its sources. European Commission is about to approve Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
According to “people familiar with the matter”, nearly $69 billion in acquisitions approved next week, likely date May 15th. Officially, after several delays, European officials are due to issue a verdict on the Call of Duty publisher’s merger with Xbox by May 22nd, 2023.
Acquisition at the end of April. blocked Competition and Markets Authority based on concerns about cloud gaming monopoly.. Microsoft does not agree with this, it entered into several ten-year agreements (with Nvidia for games on GeForce Now, Nintendo, Steam and cloud services Boosteroid and Ubitus) before the decision of the British CMA, but even this was not enough for approval.

Microsoft intends to defend itself and prove in court that the CMA was wrong. They have at least two interesting names to help with this: Daniel Beard And Lord David Pannick. The first has extensive experience working with appellate courts. The lawyer represented large companies such as Apple, Intel, Sky and Tesco and managed to bypass the European Union regulator. He saved companies billions in fines. Lord David Pannick is back in the past represented Queen Elizabeth II and Boris Johnson.
The acquisition is still blocked by the US FTC.. Microsoft will not meet for its first evidence hearing until August 2, 2023. On the other hand, the deal has been approved in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Brazil or Chile.
