Remedy has published its financial results for the first quarter of 2023, and with them, as usual, a commentary on ongoing projects, which the Finnish studio has no shortage of. The closest, of course, is Alan Wake 2, which was announced at The Game Awards in 2021, but since then we haven’t heard much about the project other than financial news. However, Remedy has consistently assured that the game will be released this year, and it is. We have learned that the game is in the final stages of full production and is currently at the maximum number of employees working on it. They will be gradually moved to other projects as the release approaches. So let’s hope we don’t have to wait long for a gameplay preview that we haven’t seen yet.
“Alan Wake 2 is on its way to being a great game and everyone at Remedy is excited about it.” company boss Tero Virtala said about the game. “While there is still some work to be done, I am impressed with the quality and speed of development.”
Another project, Control 2, entered the proof-of-concept phase in January, with development focusing on world-building, game mechanics, and visual goals. A co-op game from the world of Control, codenamed Condor, is also in the proof-of-concept stage.
The same can be said for a free-to-play co-op PvE shooter called Vanguard, which has been at this stage for a while now. In recent months, the team has strengthened, including management. The developers focused primarily on the core gameplay and overall design of the game.
The latest project is a remake of the first two parts of the Max Payne series. Here, too, there was a transition to the proof-of-concept stage during the first quarter, work is reportedly going well, and the development team will gradually expand.
