Activision Blizzard made significant profits in the first quarter

Activision Blizzard published data for the first quarter of 2023 (from January to the end of March). After the decision of the British authorities to block the acquisition of Microsoft, this at least partly reassures investors – sales and profits have increased compared to last year.

The company’s sales grew by 35% compared to last year from last year’s $1.7 billion to nearly 2.4 billion. The biggest share comes from Mobile King, which jumped 8% year-on-year, Blizzard recorded the biggest difference since last year (62%), and Activision Blizzard earned 28% more. The net profit of the entire company then increased by as much as 87%. They are up to $740 million from $395 last year.

Activision Blizzard highlights in financial report mobile segment, which accounts for 40% share of total sales. Namely, we are talking about Candy Crush Saga, Call of Duty Mobile and Diablo Immortal. Pre-orders should also have been shown Diablo IV, the public beta probably also affected the number of users. While Activision registered 2 million fewer users year on year and King lost even 7 million people, Blizzard games were played by 5 million more players.

In 2022 he was Activision Blizzard seventh publisher in sales ranking. Xbox, which is currently trying to buy the company, trails Tencent and PlayStation with just under $9 billion and estimated sales in excess of $15.5 billion.
