Minecraft Legends – review on INDIAN

Have you ever wondered what Minecraft would look like as a strategy game? Do you have your own army that you can command and lead into battle against hellish creatures? That’s exactly what it is Minecraft legends. Compared to the original game, this a completely different world, and it offers a hitherto unknown experience. You will explore beautifully stylized environments and lead your group into battle. The plot of Minecraft Legends will surprise you in many ways, although not always in a good way. And so one group of players will be delighted, while the other will have only eyes for tears. And I’ll tell you why.

Together with your friends, you will be given one simple task. To protect the Well of Doom from the blood pig raidswho flock to that world from hell. The well not only serves as a source of life for the entire world, but also acts as the heart of your base. And you shouldn’t give it up at any cost. It is with her that you can build various improvements that are key to collecting resources, building or fighting. You will then use the Pig Campaign Upgrade. And in order to defeat them, you will need to assemble a powerful army, build defenses and protect your allies. All this from a bird’s eye view, from where you will give a lot of orders. Basically, nothing complicated, and this is definitely the best part of the game.

What about protection? You need to go on reconnaissance with your hero. And it will entertain you at first. The individual environments are pleasingly different from each other and at the same time stylized to the bone. Exactly the way you know it from Minecraft, and a wave of nostalgia will not take long. There are also new items! That will propel you faster through the meadows instant wheat and in the dense jungle you will meet inflatable hats, which allows you to reach even the tops of the trees. And this is quite convenient, as sometimes you can find hidden chests here, which contain important items, such as basic raw materials and auxiliary artifacts. These things make the world seem playful.

In addition, various animals will make it much easier for you to explore. Your character will be from the very beginning ride a horse, but you can ride a bug, a tiger, or even Big Beak. A brightly colored bird that can fly long distances. It’s just that at times he has a rather broken flight animation, so he happily flies through the air. The problem arises when you don’t know if you are flying or falling. And it could be fatal for you. But this is only the first hint of the problems plaguing the game.

Although the environment is quite diverse and lively, you can’t help but feel that things are quite rushed. Minecraft itself is mostly based on gigantic worlds that are endless to explore. But there is nothing of the kind here. The map is quite small, and the exploration that the developers have been luring us with from the very beginning is one big inflated bubble. Yes, there are different types of environments, but that’s about it. And this is reflected in the survey. It will often happen to you that you stumble upon interesting things at every corner. But rewards? Due to the inventory limit, you should leave them lying around as you won’t be able to take any more.

Neither he nor the collection of materials are doing very well. You need workers to get them, but they will only want to work if you flood them. you play the right tune. Through it, you command the fairies whether they should mine raw materials or build. No more, no less. Don’t expect Minecraft Guitar Hero, but at least the tunes sound good. However, after the initial desperation of the lack of firewood, you will fall into an ugly stereotype and again face pockets full of brothels, but you will not find the important things you need right there. And if you think that it does not matter that you put the material somewhere and continue to collect, then forget about it. You can only use what you have with you. No warehouses, shulker boxes and classic chests. And so you will wander aimlessly around the world in search of, say, five pieces of redstone in order to build a rudite launcher.

Fortunately, there is an effective way to permanently get rid of various excesses. And this is by construction. Your well, bases and villages need to be fortified from enemy raids. To do this, you will use defensive structures, such as: a wall, an embrasure, a catapult or a smelter. Just such a classic. Maybe it’s just my feeling, but Minecraft Legends has untapped brand potential. I understand that designing mechanics is difficult, but there are still many missed opportunities. After all, the absolute basis of Minecraft is mining in the mines that we dig ourselves. There is no hint of anything like that here. Shape the landscape? Forget it. Undersea world? The developers are probably keeping this for DLC.

Thank God, there is at least a well-thought-out combat system. The army consists of various golems as well as monsters. Each group has its own specialization, and they will follow you with a raised banner of courage to issue orders. Thanks to this, you can tell specific units where to stand and what to attack. You will use this very often, especially in pig farms, when the horde will usually rush to the nearest enemy object, and with the other half of the army you will go around them and go behind them. Divide and Conquer has actually worked really well for me, but it may not be in every fight. It is often advantageous to take offensive buildings, but they are disappointing for their reporter. I expected more than the already mentioned catapult and cannon.

The core mechanic of the entire game is building support towers around the Well of Fate, which grant upgrades and occupy different areas in the process. The challenge is to build as many towers as possible in a small space. Reminds me of minecraft tetris. Efficient stacking will definitely pay off, as you will, for example, increase your inventory space, add workers, and increase their speed. While you will be pleased with each improvement, it will quickly pass when you realize that it is not enough.

But now we come to the part where Minecraft Legends stands out the most. And it’s a PvP multiplayer mode for eight players on two teams. Almost all of the issues I’ve mentioned so far, with a few exceptions, are related to a rather flat and lifeless campaign. I had a lot of fun fighting with my friends against another team. The small generated map was not an obstacle, but a properly built arena. The environments are beautifully designed so you don’t have to run around the desert for long, everything is easy to find and players can focus solely on strategy.

The task is a shared inventory in multiplayer. Your plan to build a beautiful and modern wall on the edge of the base can fall apart in a second if a partner builds, say… a bullet hole in the middle of the well… in one tug.

So it is possible to clarify who in the team will collect raw materials, who will build, and who, for example, will deal with fortifications. In short, a good plan is the key to success. But in order to achieve this moment, you need to communicate well. And this is something that the developers, unfortunately, did not take into account. There is no chat in the game. And this is a very big problem. While we were advised to use something like Discord to communicate with the team, how are regular players who just want to play against others supposed to do it? The only way to communicate here is through the ping system. But he will tell the maximum what you want to build and what you need for this. And then your teammate can try to guess what you really want from him.

However, with a good group of people, you will experience amazing moments and a game that can last anywhere from five minutes to two hours. The PvP mode uses all the strengths of this game so beautifully in one compact package. But there is still that campaign on the other side. And she has enough problems, as you already know.

What the hell, defending your well and conquering pig farms is fun. But only until you understand how they work. Then the whole mechanics becomes completely predictable. Another thing that you definitely won’t like is your character’s sword. While you can rock it for life, it takes almost nothing away from anything that looks a bit hostile. And if we talk about buildings, then nothing can be taken away from them. Just a hero, as he should be.

At the very least, you will be accompanied by beautiful lute melodies and excellent musical accompaniment all the time. Which I heard right after my voice finally stopped cracking. Our review copy of the game was probably a bit cursed. I had the biggest problems, mostly in good cutscenes, where dubbing of characters turned into a distant whisper. Adjusting the graphics or just the size of the game window was next to impossible, not to mention opening the window across more than one monitor.

Pigs very often forgot to move. It didn’t make sense to create hordes of them in the world, since they just appear out of nowhere and chase you. The same applies to wolves. By the way, have you decided to jump off the highest mountain with a bird? I hope you said hello to your army. It is likely that he will commit suicide along the way. This army is programmed to catch up with you. And until you fall to the ground, they will continue to run after you. Or, in the case of one giant golem, it will appear in the air around you. There were indeed a lot of bugs, but I believe that the only problem that will remain will be the sheer number of units fighting on the board. Weaker computers will run into a performance issue in this case.

So overall Minecraft Legends is a good game. And it is important to understand that this is actually a real-time strategy based only on the world of Minecraft. Don’t expect any improved version, but a standalone game that handles individual elements well. Unfortunately, the campaign has its bugs, but they are easy enough to fix. However, if you like a fresher style, this one definitely deserves your attention. At the very least, the piglet cycle and being able to get creative while protecting the village is something that can balance out boring exploration.

On the other hand, the PvP mode does almost everything right. It’s fast, fast, and fun if you have friends to play with who aren’t jerks. Although there is no possibility of communication here, nothing prevents you from meeting somewhere externally and talking together. Here you can also find a store with skins, special mods and mini-games.

Now it’s up to you to take up the sword and use something like the Xbox Game Pass to see if this hero’s journey is right for you.

Verdict

Minecraft Legends has presented itself as a gigantic world that will offer a lot of space to explore the surroundings. We had different environments full of wildlife that we looked forward to. A great adventure that should have left us in awe, and a great system for inventing new strategies. But everything the game offers in its current state is more of a taste of what it could evolve into. Combat is fun for a while, but once you find one strategy that works, you won’t need to think about anything else. But this does not apply to the PvP mode, which will offer interesting battles thanks to different players.
