Studio Dambuster took a somewhat unexpected step in optimization. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will not be able to play the game Dead Island 2 set up shared sessions. Only players on more powerful consoles will be able to host games. This applies not only to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but also to PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Developer Restrictions they justify host side hardware requirements, which older PS4 and Xbox One consoles don’t match. Thankfully, up to three player co-op will still work on these platforms, but only if you join someone. It is assumed that without hardware limitations, co-op in Dead Island 2 will work later, but the timing is not called.

This is the second disappointment in a row. This has recently been confirmed lack of cross-platform play. Crossplay will only work within the same platform brand. PS5 players will play with PS4 players and Xbox Series X/S players will play with their Xbox One friends. But neither camps will connect to each other or to PC (here are the hardware requirements and information on how the game will work on consoles).

Dead Island 2 releases this Friday, 04/21/2023, p. with Czech subtitles.
