Redfall will only offer 30fps on Xbox at release

Today is not a good day for Bethesda Softworks. Though we got a pretty solid free update for Spider’s Thread ghost action game. Ghostwire: Tokyothanks to which one of the new games of the Japanese studio Tango Gameworks appeared on the Xbox after a year of exclusivity for PC and PlayStation 5. But some Xbox owners are reporting performance issues.while for PC players Bethesda has prepared a curious and at the same time rather unpleasant surprise.

For some reason, Denuvo’s unpopular anti-piracy protection has been added to the PC version of Ghostwire: Tokyo just now.. However, the game was sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store for a whole year without any specific anti-piracy protection, so Denuvo, just a year after the launch of Ghostwire on the market, is a move that seriously stops the mind.

No wonder they are also already breeding. negative user reviews on Steam where players point to Denuvo. However, no one from Bethesda or Tango Gameworks has yet officially commented on this change, so we can only speculate why anyone would still consider anti-piracy a good idea. Equally it is not yet clear whether this has any negative effect on performance, as has been the case with several other games in the past. In any case, keep in mind that if you buy or download Ghostwire: Tokyo after today’s update, you won’t escape Denuvo’s protection.

But that’s not all. The creators of the upcoming vampire shooter Redfall by Arkane Studio today they announcedthat when the game releases on May 2, 2023, it will only offer a quality mode on Xbox. It means that For now, Microsoft console owners have to say goodbye to 60fps games.. In particular, on Xbox Series X, Redfall will offer resolution in quality mode. 4K at 30fpsand Xbox Series S will offer 1440p and 30fps. Performance mode with support for 60 frames per second will appear later as part of one of the updates.

Unfortunately, this does not bode well for Redfall. On the one hand, it follows from this. the notion that the Arkane Austin team is still not catching up despite last year’s postponement and that Bethesda intends to release a product that will be missing an important feature. On the one hand, given that Arkane at least does not have time to properly optimize the game on Xbox, they are on point regarding how developers can deal with optimizing the PC version.

In the same time Arkane originally expected Redfall to also be released on the PlayStation 5.before Microsoft abandoned development of the PS5 version after purchasing Bethesda to make the game exclusive to its ecosystem. We don’t even want to think about what it would be like if the creators had to deal with yet another platform.. Is the current state related to the haste of development or the way the Unreal 4 engine is used, which, by the way, the creators stopped precisely because they would not have had time to upgrade to Unreal 5? Who knows. But now is probably the right time to warn anyone interested in Redfall that things may not be quite right here.
