While the ongoing Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 event in London has largely eschewed the realm of video games, we have new and apparently the last gameplay trailerwhich invites you to action adventure Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from EA and Respawn Entertainment. Accompanied by a commentary by Cere Junda, protagonist Cal Kestis’ mentor, it really has something to look at.

Fans of the Clone Wars era are clearly waiting not only for battles with droids, but also a setting strikingly reminiscent of Trade Federation ship corridors. The trailer also devotes a lot of space to fighting the massive Raivis, a member of the newly arrived ancient Gen’dai race, who is very strong, lives a hell of a lot, and regrows body parts. Moreover, it confirms as yet unknown humanoid, who, judging by his clothing, has something to do with the High Republic period known from books and comics, controls the Force.
The video does not skimp on spectacular action moments, including a fight with a massive rancor, ejecting an AT-ST pilot from the cockpit using the Force, or speeder chasing and shooting a poor soldier scout towards a passing TIE fighter. And it looks like Cal isn’t the only one in the game who can wield a blue-bladed lightsaber.
Can also be seen again in the trailer rich examples of a system called “Characters in Gameplay”, which can be used by the mercenary Bode Akuna or Nightsister Merrin to help you in combat. Game director Stig Asmussen confirmed in a new interview with the official Star Wars website that minions can be summoned even in the middle of combat to save your neck and unleash a very powerful attack. But expect this option to recharge, so it will not be possible to use it all the time. On the other hand, this system can also be used in solving puzzles.
What’s worse can be seen here and there significant graphical improvement over the first volume, that is, with the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from 2019. It’s not just that ray tracing and other visual and technology elements look good, Asmussen says. Even they can speed up and make development more enjoyable. For example, when creators can see the lighting changes they make in real time thanks to ray tracing, they can edit, tweak, and enhance everything much better. In the past, they sometimes had to wait several hours for pre-calculated lighting settings to take effect.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases April 28/April this year for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
