New patch for Resident Evil 4 Remake was supposed to fix problems on consoles

Along with the Mercenaries mode, a patch called 1.04 was released on Friday for Resident Evil 4 Remake. If PC is only supposed to fix bugs, then consoles should have been fixing the annoying issues that we already pointed out in the technical analysis of the demo. On Xbox, it was lower frame rates and so-called dead zones on the joystick when the game doesn’t register motion. The PlayStation 5 had flickering and a more washed out image. But while Capcom says those issues are now resolved, players don’t think so.

As for the Xbox, the result was rather a deterioration. According to Reddit user Gwynbloed, whose conclusions are confirmed by other players, although the dead zones have decreased, the situation is still not ideal. The biggest problem, however, is that due to the achievement of a higher frame rate, the image quality, which until now was one of the strengths of the XSX version, has deteriorated significantly. The game looks much more blurry and also suffers from annoying flickering that hasn’t been a problem on Xbox before.

PS5 players don’t win either. Thanks to the new update, the image is much sharper, but at the same time, flickering is even more noticeable than before, as you can see in the video from the GamingTech YT channel.

So let’s hope that Capcom actually fixes the issues in a future patch.
