Not everything is so rosy for E3 2023 for some time now. In January 2023, Microsoft, Nintendo, as well as Sony announced that they would not participate in the event this year, which certainly did not have a positive impact on other potential participants. Finally, Ubisoft took a similar step, followed by Sega and Tencent. After that, the organizers, apparently, faced the question of whether it makes sense to implement the legendary exhibition in physical form, because without big names it is difficult to attract visitors. In addition, it would be difficult to pay for the entire project.
According to IGN, E3 2023 won’t take place in June after all. She was informed about this by the ESA, which owns the event. The company itself commented on its move as follows:
“It was a difficult decision considering all the efforts we and our partners put into making this event happen, but we had to do what was right for the industry and for E3. We appreciate and understand that interested companies will not have playable demos ready and that due to resource issues attending E3 in the summer will be an obstacle for them. For those who choose to attend E3 2023, we regret that we cannot deliver the show you deserve and expect from your ReedPop experience.“
