Golden Czech hands. Such a saying that is used quite often in our country, and we say it to all the good that we have achieved. But then here Game studios. This is a Brno workshop, in which, by the way, people worked, for example, on Army, The kingdom is coming or Mafianamely created Crime Boss: Rockay City. And that’s, well… just wrong.

STARS ARE DISAPPOINTED

You would think it would be pretty pretty FPS similar Paydaybut looks are deceiving. But let’s go in order. The difference is in which mode you are currently playing, but more on that later. Traditionally, we can touch on the basic mechanics here in management and then dive into play solo or co-op. If you don’t have as many friends as I do, you will definitely start single player campaign. And she will entertain you. For some time. Cast Travis Bakerto whom the actor lent his face and voice Michael Madsenyour goal will be to dominate everything Rockay City.

However, other leaders of various gangs will stand in your way. It was cold subordinate vanilla ice, Dollar Dragon Danny Trejo or for example Sheriff Norrisperformed by the legendary Chuck Norris. And it sounds very good. What unfortunately doesn’t sound so good is the voices of these characters. It feels like the actors saw their lines for the first time, delivered them after a rough night and got pissed that they even had to do it. To be able to use an actor of this caliber and not get the most out of it is a shame. And I’m so sorry. When a studio full of up-and-coming developers, especially in a small country like ours, manages to find an actor of that caliber.

However, capturing the entire city is not easy. Day after day, you occupy separate territories, choose assistants, build an army and, most importantly, earn money. Because how else would you like to finance all this criminal activity. And so I finally got to the game as such. Everything is divided into several parts. You can make several moves each day depending on the size of your army and your team. The army, whose members or, if you prefer, mercenaries, you can hire at the docks, is designed to occupy or protect certain territories.

You can capture an unoccupied area in just a few clicks. But if you want to take territory that doesn’t belong to you, you’ll have to fight. By the indicator you can find out how many rival bandits will oppose you, so you send about the same or even more or less of them into battle, and you can give all your best. Unfortunately, it lasts only a few minutes, most often two or three, and suddenly everything ends. You walk away a winner or a loser. Nothing in between. In short, the winner is the one who quickly shoots the opponent’s opponents.. It works similarly when defending a given location, while occupying the latter also means the death of the boss of the rival gang. If you expect total annihilation Danny Trejo there will be some epic video or something, so I will mislead you. The head is simply crossed out with a red cross and the drive continues. And if you are still wondering how to recruit mercenaries into the army, you must first pay them at the port, and then pay them for each of their actions.

REPEATIABILITY NOT FOR EVERYONE

I guessed that you should earn money. Perhaps just for the aforementioned army fee. This brings me to the next stage of your daily bread. With henchmen on your team, you do heists. For example, rob a bank, a jewelry store, or just go through a few checkouts in a shopping center. The idea is good, but the execution is terrible. Imagine, for example, a jewelry store. The developers will give you many options on how to do this. You can sneak in through the employee entrance, you can enter through the loading ramp, for example, or you can just sneak in and break into the back room when the opportunity presents itself, where you turn off the alarms and cameras.

But it really doesn’t matter how you do it. You can try your best and all the civilians and most of the militants will just give up. But there will always be one idiot who will shoot, after which an incredible mela will erupt, and before you have time to recover, a sniper will come for you. I confess, after another burglary, I just flew in and started shooting headlong at everything. This is how it always ended, and futile attempts to quietly progress frustrated me.

You then carry the stolen loot to the van and flee the scene. However, robberies alone will not bring you that much money. You will then have to sell gold, jewelry, electronics, or drugs on the black market.where the price moves in all sorts of ways. So, electronics theft doesn’t necessarily mean immediate profit, and it’s worth the wait. So it’s not just steal, sell, recruit and take, they’re here to revive story missions. They work on a similar principle, but because of the hidden story behind them, they will simply entertain you a little more than the rest.

WHAT? ROGUE-LITE ITEMS?

However, there is one big but! Travis Baker as the boss of your entire gang, he can also be involved in robberies. And like the others, he can die. But once he dies your whole game is over and you have to start over. It’s seriously frustrating, but while you’re playing and dying, you level up the main character and get special cards. Thanks to them, you can start a new game with a hundred thousand dollars, an army of thirty people, or additional territory. Again, I will say that the idea of such permanent death is a good one. However, this may deter many players from playing. Although I’m not a fan scammer And fraudulent degrees to CBoss: Rocky City I liked this system. Yes, it got on my nerves when I played through the campaign for the fourth time. And yes, it was the same thing over and over again. But with each playthrough, I got more and more bonuses, so I really enjoyed it. But like I said, it’s not for everyone.

If you want to try the game with your friends, you can also try the classic one-time hack Urban legend – co-op missionwho have such a carefree history. And I really like it as a revival of multiplayer games. So you might be surprised that while I’m complaining about some elements, I’m also praising the game in some way. So why was I so upset at the beginning of the review? Blame the gameplay. Although you Criminal authority allows you to buy better weapons, apart from the size of the magazine and the speed of its reloading, you will hardly notice a difference. Of course, the firepower of a small pistol and a shotgun is different, but with two shotguns (one of which should be more powerful) you won’t notice the difference.

The fact that you go to rob a bank three times in a row and it looks the same every time, with the only difference that the safe is somewhere else, will also begin to annoy you after a few games. And I’m not even talking about artificial intelligence. I often laugh in games that two soldiers standing next to each other do not know that I hit one in the head or that they walk around the corpse and do not see it. However, Crime Boss took it to an even higher level.

During a multiplayer game, I was assigned to protect a warehouse. Rival bandits walked around me and did not see me at all, they even occupied my heavy machine gun. On the hike, the police stood in front of the open door and did not know about me at all until I walked through it.. I should also mention such mistakes as closing an open door to an office where I would normally go, and then suddenly demanding to pick the lock to open it.

Or maybe incredible number of spawning cops. I get it, this is a game, and the longer you drag out the heist, the more people will come after you. But there are hundreds and I doubt the police Rockay City more than the rest of the country combined. However, I do not consider this a mistake. The way it is.

PERFECT SOUNDTRACK

And then there’s the audiovisual. I personally like the color scheme and the detailed world design. Of course, I ran into some details that deserve more attention, but I was still satisfied. Maybe I’m sorry no environmental destructionwhich I think will give the whole gaming experience a whole different dimension.

Much has been said about red smoke dispersing around an enemy after it has been disabled. And yes, it looks weird. On the other hand, it’s such a good indicator that the enemy is really dead. You won’t find a minimap or enemy health indicator here.. And yes, the sound is fine with me. When he played the menu Bon Jovi and his Flame of Glory or Boomfunk and Freestyler, I smiled stupidly and happily. Even the sound effects of explosions and gunshots sounded good. It’s just a shame that said dub performances are so terrible. Otherwise, I give full marks to the sound side.

Summarize, Crime Boss: Rockay City it’s not exactly a bad game. I would venture to say that for Game studios is the ticket among elite developers. There are elements that will entertain you at least for a while and not bad for a few evenings with friends. Besides you will support a Czech studio with less than a thousand. But there is more than enough wrong here. Hollywood actors do not chase success, artificial intelligence is dull, and the repetition of not only tasks, but also the environment is just a crumb on a cake of failure, which nevertheless tastes quite good.

Verdict

Crime Boss: Rockay City definitely didn’t live up to its potential. The game has many flaws and many elements seem sloppy. However, he will find his fans.
