Rockay City is interesting with its new campaign structure, and its low price makes it a very good buy. But there are not many things that can be appreciated and make someone come back to the game. The whole project is a clear tribute to the glorious days of action movies of the 90s, but the execution, unfortunately, does not correspond to reality. But before you buy, ask yourself how long a novelty can keep you interested when there are much better multiplayer games out there.

Meanwhile, the characters and script surrounding these missions are painfully stuck in 2011. And character customization options are either limited or haphazard, so it feels like you’re never in complete control of your gear.

Crime Boss Rockay City is a chilling example of how to budget a video game inefficiently, and a prime example of how games should be played and felt good first and foremost. There are good ideas buried deep in this game, and the combination of roguelike and Payday is a really fresh concept that I would like to see in a better title. However, using Hollywood talent in the past is a choice that adds nothing to the game and isn’t enough to distract me from the superficial gameplay that was already made much better ten years ago.
