Diablo 4 was supposed to kill a few RTX 3080 Ti

The Diablo 4 beta on PC worked differently. Most players were mostly hindered by frame drawdowns. However, there were also those who lost their cards. Yes, you read it right. According to posts on Reddit, the game pulled out a few RTX 3080 Ti cards during testing. On these GPUs, the expected RPG would either freeze terribly or directly cause monitors to go black and reboot the PC at best. At worst, expensive graphics are eliminated from the title.

Most of the affected cards are reported to be Gigabyte’s stable version, but that doesn’t mean GPUs from other companies can’t be affected as well. Diablo 4 itself shouldn’t be the obvious cause of the problems, but rather something that, like the MMORPG New World, caused an underlying problem. In the case of the aforementioned New World, it was the bad soldering on the EVGA cards that caused the graphics to crash at extremely high frame rates and heavy workloads.

To protect your graphics from possible crashes, it is recommended to limit the maximum frame rate. This often leads to various problems, because, for example, menu operations often do not have an fps limit and at the same time can reach crazy values. Damage is currently requesting a free replacement. Gigabite seems to be aware of the issue and will be sure to make a statement in the coming days.
