The moment that all Counter-Strike fans have been waiting for years has finally arrived. Valve has officially confirmed a new part of the popular series of competitive first-person shooters, which is called Counter-strike 2 And Coming this summer to PC via Steam, where you can switch to it for free from CS:GO. (however, it is currently unclear if the current part will disappear). It is equipped with a more modern engine. Source 2 and, as expected, it will offer new mechanics that the developers are currently teasing on the official YouTube channel.

USING THE SOURCE 2 ENGINE

Perhaps the most significant change will be the graphics. Simultaneously available maps will get thanks to a better engine new coatbut even so, the fact remains that the one who trains countless hours and eventually can use every nook and cranny will gain a fundamental advantage.

Valve explains that they took a three-pronged approach to improving maps to really improve them, but not make their legacy disappear. The first box included the Mirage, Dust 2 and Train maps, where the creators are just right they played with the lighting (and what can you say!) improved character visibility.

But there are cards like Nuke that take advantage of the wide range of features in Source 2, a physics-based rendering system that makes materials, reflections, and lighting more realistic.

The third group of cards, including the legendary Overpass, was completely redesigned from scratch and with improvements, the potential of Source 2 was used even more significantly.

All features that take graphics to a much higher level will also be available to community map makers.

SMOKE GRAND UPGRADES…FINALLY!

Matches in Counter-Strike are quite varied, although this may not seem like it to someone who has never played the title or has not really seen it. It’s not just about who is better at aiming. Also plays a key role strategywhich is usually not without grenades.

One of these is the smoke grenade, which can often keep an enemy from penetrating a certain location, or can be used, for example, to escape from a disadvantageous situation. Unfortunately, this was accompanied by a number of errors and bugs in CS:GO, which often made its existence disgusting.

So Valve picked up and Counter-Strike 2 will offer significantly better smoke grenades. They will not only be equally visible to everyone and from all positions, but will also receive a number of opportunities for interacting with the environment. Smoke bombs react to lighting and naturally fill the space. In addition, it will be possible to carve the shape of the cloud with rockets and grenades.

But see for yourself…

END OF X-TICK SERVERS?

This detail may not be of interest to less experienced players, but for more experienced or professional players, it can play a rather important role. For current CS:GO servers, we define the so-called tickrate, or the number of updates per second. The more ticks a server has, the more accurate grenades, rockets, or even player movement as such will work.

However, Valve has been criticized for only using servers with 64 ticks when almost all public and professional servers have at least 100 ticks. That standard outside of matchmaking was 128 ticks.

Now it seems like nothing like the tick rate matters anymore. Because North will know the exact moment you fired, peeked around a corner, or jumped, and calculates the exact action between each tick.. So, we get what we see in the final.

CHANGING THE USER INTERFACE

Although the UI change is probably not something fundamental to the gameplay, nevertheless, if you carefully watched the individual videos, you definitely did not miss it. Valve clearly tried more modern lookbut the question is, is it really good. Personally, to me, life indicators, a map or a notification about killing an enemy seem to be from a mobile game.

What is your opinion about it?

CONCLUSION

If the recent leaks related to the new Counter-Strike got you excited, we’re sure you’ll be blown away by the newly revealed footage. It can be expected that Valve will gradually supply us with similar samples until the actual release. However, apart from the fact that it will take place in the summer, we, unfortunately, do not have more detailed information about it.

Valve has launched testing for selected players, which are selected based on time spent playing CS:GO, trust factor and Steam account status. You will know if you are logged into it after opening CS:GO by a notification in the main menu. More information on testing is provided by Valve in the FAQ section.

And don’t worry skins along with all other items in your inventory will be transferred. Valve even promises that Source 2 will make them look even better.

How do you like the changes that Valve showed in the video? Do you think the current CS:GO will continue to improve, or will the Source 2 engine bear fruit? Let us know about it in the comments!
