You may be familiar with the developers at The Bearded Ladies mainly through the tactical RPG Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. But last year, in collaboration with publisher 505 Games, they announced that they were working on another game in this genre – Miasma Chronicles. We now have a release date and some new details on the PlayStation Blog.
First things first – the Miasma Chronicles are coming May, 23rd on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are not yet available, but you can wishlist the game on Steam.
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that is being destroyed by an unknown force known as the Miasma. We take on the role of Elvis and his robot partner Diggs. They are the ones who can stop the miasma.
We will move freely around the world, the emphasis is on exploration and the authors promise a strong story. But the main component is the combat system, again turn-based, as in Mutant Year Zero. An important role in it will be played by weapons, which are supposed to be 21 – from assault rifles to shotguns and sniper rifles. But there will also be magic in the form of miasma control.
In addition, the game offers two modes, “Easy Tactical” which reduces the element of randomness and is mainly aimed at newcomers to the genre, and then “Full Tactical” which offers classic fights that we know from other similar games. . A relatively important role should be played by the chance of a critical hit, above which a 100% attack will deal even more damage.
Finally, some good news for box collectors – the game will also get a physical version. But it won’t arrive until June 9th.
Get ready for a journey across New America – fight giant frogs, guerrilla robots and environmental hazards the world has never seen before
Miasma Chronicles releases May 23 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic Games.
