It’s been about a month since Jake Solomon, designer and creator of the modern XCOM series, announced that he was leaving Firaxis Games after 23 years. At the time, he didn’t reveal anything about his future plans, but that has now changed when he became a guest on journalist Simon Parkin’s My Perfect Console podcast, in which he revealed some news about his future. This, for example, was reported by the VGC magazine.

Solomon says he wanted to try something new after being on the same team for so long. Therefore, he decided to leave and founded his own studio, which should be based in the city of Baltimore, in the US state of Maryland. For now, he is still securing finances and will register the name, although he has not yet revealed it. Interestingly, Solomon wants to move away from turn-based strategy, the genre he is best known for. He says that while he still loves the genre, he has nowhere else to go.

“I don’t think it will be a movement strategy” said when asked about a possible new project, “I want to make something more like a life sim or a sim-style game.”

That after Life by You there will be another competition for The Sims? Let’s see which direction Solomon goes in the end. After all, it will be some time before the studio even installs and hires the necessary employees. What is certain, however, is that he has no plans to leave the gaming industry.
