Knowledge Square Enix said in a conversation with investors that it is not going to change its strategy of “multi-platform publishing” of games. This was noticed by TweakTown magazine. In the end, this does not mean that the games from the Japanese publisher will be mainly multi-platform, on the contrary, the company will continue to establish exclusive partnerships.
Nothing should change in the coming months and years, for example close cooperation with Sony. With temporary exclusivity (and probably full console exclusivity), the expected will arrive on the PlayStation 5. Final Fantasy XVI. PS5 was the only console targeted by the recent forgotten and didn’t even watch the remake on Xbox Final Fantasy XII.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be Square Enix games on the Microsoft console. Let’s call them all Stranger from Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion or TOIngdom Hearts.
Square Enix has recently highlighted its efforts to blockchain games. Some of them should appear in the next financial year, and the departure of the current boss of the company, Hosuke Makuda, will not change anything. The classic big games from Square Enix are having a hard time. The recent failure of Forspoken led to a reorganization and the end of Luminous Productions’ autonomous position within the company.
