Given the radio silence that’s around System shock remake erupted, today’s delayed announcement is unsurprising. The remake of the cult fist shooter needs more time, it will not appear until the end of March, but only 5/30 of this year for PC. On that date, the game will be available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
“We were hoping to release the game by the end of March, but it just wasn’t within our means; we are human after all (unlike Shodan!)” according to a Nightdive Studios press release.
If you pre-order a complete remake of the 1994 original, you get a free copy of System Shock 2 Remasteredwhich later inspired BioShock and countless other immersive sims such as Dishonored and Prey.
They are also planned console version, namely PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. We will learn more about them in due course.
The System Shock Remake combines the gameplay of the original game with new HD graphics, improved controls, a redesigned interface, and brand new sounds and music. Other news includes brand new enemies, changes to the hacking system, and new combat options. If you are impatient, you can play the remake via updated demos. You can find it on Steam.
