They need so-called “celestial threadwhich, by the way, is also part of that object on your hand. The weirdo disappears and you suddenly become a hunter of much larger monsters. What happened, why it happened, you don’t know anything at all. Will this weirdo show up again? You will learn everything over time, traveling through the diverse Asian landscape, v Action 3D JRPG on behalf of wild hearts from Japanese studio Omega Force.

LOTS OF KEMONO

With us for almost thirty years. Except for a few parts One piece And Tukiden this is his flagship action series Dynasty Warriors. So it is not surprising that now he decided to try to compete with the famous monster hunterand so the developers showed off with JRPG Wild Hearts. So they tried something new, but at the same time somehow remained in the genre that always suited them. However, a problem arose when they decided to develop their new name under the slogan electronic artsbecause the publisher always has the right to screw things up a bit.

On the one hand, this is an understandable step. adviser it’s just a big name and at the same time their program EA Originals he made it possible to finance the entire project, because hand in hand, but this type of game is not as popular in our country as, for example, in the Asian market. On wild hearts apparently the creators Omega Force they left their mark on the game. So, can Wild Hearts be a successful game, even if it’s essentially a copy of the most famous game in its genre and run by people who are known for messing up everything they can?

The answer will probably surprise you. Yes and no. Because for a while you will really get into the game and you will want to kill more and more monsters. And then the moment will come when you will hate her and curse all her mechanics. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s go to the beginning and tell ourselves who we are, where we are and what our mission is. wild hearts takes place in a fictional country called Azuma.

It is inspired by typical fantasy Asia, where there are many colors, traditional Chinese houses and bamboo. At first glance, one might think in what a beautiful harmony the inhabitants must live there. But the so-called Kemono. It’s about giant monsterand which threaten the local population. You gradually reveal how and why they appeared here. Your task is simple. As a real monster hunter – sorry, monster hunter – you have to drive them out of this land.

But you are not always alone. You can, of course, kill an overgrown rooster or a raccoon without outside help. Just find out how the enemy moves and what hurts him the most. That is, only after you find it in a given place. Then all you have to do is slash, dodge and hope he goes down as soon as possible. It’s always a matter of time, because we do not see the health indicator of enemies and that their end is near is usually known only by the fact that the monsters are more aggressive and at the same time more vulnerable.

So yes, if you enjoy your own misfortune, you can go hunting alone. However, the game is based on cooperation. You just need to either click “join session” on the world map and join two other players from around the world, ask for help during the fight and wait to see who will join you, or find a portal at a given location while traveling. and find out which monster he wants to fight who will help

YOU ARE NEVER ALONE

So when someone joins you, it’s fun. Despite the fact that there are not many weapons in the game and they are gradually unlocked, it is a pleasure to watch how someone uses firearms, someone uses one-handed fast katanas, and you hit a monster with a two-handed heavy hammer. The combination of fighting style and weapons just doesn’t get boring. Usually there are three attempts to killthen you will have to start hunting again, and of course sometimes you will run into teammates who refuse to revive you or join and not play.

However, none of this spoils the experience. But it’s guaranteed to ruin you if no one joins you and you just can’t progress any further. An excellent example is Lavabuck from the end of the first chapter. I personally killed him 4.5 hours. Although I understood what his movements were, when and how he would attack, even though I had a fairly advanced weapon, I simply could not kill him myself. Then came a higher monster level, two more players joined me, and everything was done in four minutes.

So, do you understand my frustration? I don’t know if it wild hearts in a way it’s intentional that no one will join you in harder fights if no one is playing the game or if I’m just unlucky that no one was hunting that particular Kemono at the time. A fun hunt in a group alternates with a desperate search for help. Even if no one is joining you at the moment, he is always there Companion Tsukumo, a cute futuristic ball that is essentially a collectible. There are dozens of them scattered across the map in each location. The more you collect, the more you can upgrade Tsukumo. And to help you attack, defend, heal or distract. However, you will not notice his company from the very beginning. Its use in combat is known only after several hours of play and several improvements.

Except for a companion. Tsukumo and other players an important element of the game and building. At first glance it seems that you are playing Fortnite, and I admit that it scared me a little. However, in order to get to high places, I had to put up with this mechanic. And now I can’t imagine the game without him. But after a while I got used to it and now I can’t imagine a game without this mechanic.

You can build not only ordinary boxes to get into hard-to-reach places, but also torches for fire attacks or catapults, individual elements can even be combined. The combination of the above boxes and torches creates a pretty powerful bomb, the boxes themselves create a barricade, and the bouncing platform with the box, for example, a cripple hammer. So again there is inspiration, for example Shantae Cymbals by Zelda or a building from Portal Knights. Added to all this fun with different types of weapons is a great build implementation.

However, you will not make one bomb after another. An important part wild hearts there is also a collection of loot. You need stone and wood for building elements, to upgrade weapons and armor, loot from monsters or to level up your character, you need different types of raw materials freely scattered around the world. All this can unnecessarily drag out the whole game. An ordinary player will completely pass it in some time sixty hours. Which is not much in this genre, but not enough.

Imagine spending several hours to defeat the same monster multiple times because you need 5 times its tail to upgrade your weapons. After grueling battles, you enthusiastically improve your weapons, and then in the next story mission you find out that you need a completely different weapon for the type of monster that you have to hunt now, and go through the same cycle again. So it could be neutralized with the original weapon and with the help of the player. But someone had to join you, right? So once again, I must repeat that pleasure alternates with frustration.

THE BASIS OF WILD HEARTS IS A GOOD GAME

It would be nice to chat with teammates during fights or join a group chat in some hub and arrange hunting with someone and help with tasks. But we don’t find anything like it here. Communication, which is very important in a title based on cooperation, works here only in two ways and only in combat.

You can use the predefined words and press the L key to let others know you’re there too, or you can just plug in your microphone. This is mostly used by players from countries where they don’t speak English. And this makes me very sad. So there is nothing left but to “chat” with the NPCs in the city. Minatothe only place where he lives and where Kemono they don’t get villagers there give you side quests, you can buy and sell raw materials and au. Natsumelocal blacksmith, can be improved.

So it’s basically wild hearts good game. Even if he rather cleverly copies the more famous monster hunter, Fearless or perhaps God Eatertrying to add something extra. Building makes it a little more like a sandbox and gives players plenty of options to complete tasks. The emphasis on collaboration is clear, and when it works, it shines. JRPGs are just for a certain group of players, and the story side has never been something that games in this genre excel at. Here, however, the story is told in a slightly more “European” way. So it may be of interest even to someone who has never played such games.

However, the same cannot be said about the graphics. Even if the game is running at rest 60 fpstherefore, at 30 during cutscenes, and while character and monster detail looks good and the world pops with color, its handling isn’t as good. A closer look shows how sloppy the textures are, even with graphics set to ultra, for example, water and surface details look like a game a few years ago from Nintendo 3DS. Animation often takes too long, which is a real disadvantage for a game where every second is needed in combat. I also had mixed feelings about the sound. The soundtrack is perfect, I really liked listening to him and he added epicness to the fights. Weapon effects and enemy roars are already weak, and the voice acting doesn’t suit some of the characters at all. On the other hand, there is at least one.

wild hearts is a good choice for those who have never played games of this genre. Because it’s a bit easier than competing games and it’s a great introduction to this type of game. After all, it’s just a copy. monster hunter, which tries to do some things a little differently. Some worked and some didn’t. The title, of course, does not deserve to be forgotten, but everyone knows that there is only one king.

Verdict

What we get is a title that hasn’t been able to use its elements to its full potential. This is not a waste of money, the game will entertain you, but the competition is still far away.
