French publisher Gameloft suddenly closed its branch in Budapest. The team has mobile games like Iron Man 3, City Mania, Disney Getaway Blast or the most successful Dragon Mania Legends which has been downloaded over 50 million times. The main reason is probably that Gameloft is focusing more on the console and PC market.

About a hundred employees of the Hungarian studio lost their jobs. The team was founded in 2012 and has been developing mobile free games. It is from them that Gameloft wants to move more towards computer and console games. He was inspired by last year’s success Disney Dream Valley.

Two months ago, then-CFO Alexandre de Rochefort took over as head of the company, who wants to usher in “a new era for Gameloft as a developer and publisher of multi-platform games.”

According to a Gameloft spokesperson, the decision to dissolve the studio was difficult, and the company was trying to “find the best possible solution for the employees involved.” Gameloft operates a number of other studios around the world. In addition to the traditional Western Europe and North America, he has teams in Argentina, Bulgaria, Romania, Indonesia, Vietnam or Ukraine.
