PlayStation fights for Call of Duty, Sony is reluctant to agree to a ten-year contract that will keep this important brand on the “blue” console. Instead, he wants to stop Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for just under $69 billion.

As it now turns out, The PlayStation accounts for a significant portion of the Call of Duty publisher’s revenue, at least in terms of the console.. In 2022, Sony accounted for 13% of Activision Blizzard’s revenue. On the other hand, for Microsoft, the numbers are so small that they don’t even count. They are less than 10%. In 2020, Microsoft had 11%, Sony had 17%. In 2021, Microsoft is no longer a part and Sony will have 15%.

Phil Spencer of Microsoft’s gaming division promises gamers and Sony that Call of Duty is coming to PlayStation for at least another 10 years. Players don’t have to worry these will be identical versions of the game as on all other devices and without exclusives for additional content. Sony has it until next year, so you could say the PlayStation has been the home of Call of Duty in recent years.

If Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard, that publisher’s games will be included in Game Pass, including Call of Duty on release day.

Lawyers agree that Microsoft’s contracts with Nintendo and Nvidia will be enough for the European Competition Authority to approve the acquisition.
