Microsoft raises the price of the Xbox Series in the first European country

In the first European country, customers will pay for Xbox Series X And Xbox Series S higher price. Microsoft is raising prices for its next generation consoles in Sweden. Less than a month ago, he did the same in Japan.

Players will now pay SEK 6,195 (converted to CZK 13,289) for Xbox Series X instead of SEK 5,695 (CZK 12,217). For the Xbox Series S, the price will change from SEK 3,595 (CZK 7,712) to SEK 3,894 (CZK 8,353), according to Gaming Vice.

Here the Xbox Series X sells for CZK 13,499 and the Xbox Series S for CZK 6,990. If Microsoft raises prices here too, about 1000 more kroons or 50 euros in Slovakia are expected.

When Microsoft raised the price in Japan by $50 per euro in late January, representatives told local Famitsu, “We regularly evaluate the impact of local pricing to maintain reasonable consistency across regions. This price review is impacting our customers and has been difficult to make, but we will continue to deliver the ultimate Xbox experience our customers have come to expect.”

Last year, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s gaming division, guaranteed that they would not raise the price until the end of 2022, which they have kept. However, he cannot guarantee what will happen in the coming months and conceded that prices could rise.

“I think at some point we will have to raise the prices of some products, but in the run-up to Christmas this year, we thought it was very important to keep prices the same,” Spencer commented last October during WSJ Tech. live. .

Since then, Microsoft has announced a change in the price tags for games. Redfall, Forza Motorsport And Starfield will be the company’s first games to be sold for 70 USD/EUR (2099 CZK). Sony’s competitors and most publishers are about the same price. This is a price increase of 10 USD/EUR.

Recall that in August last year, due to the difficult global economic situation, Sony decided to raise the price of PS5 in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and Canada by 50 dollars / euros. She left the price the same only in the US.
