Jake Solomon, longtime creative director, announced that he was leaving Firaxis, but along with that came other important information that Take-Two summarized in a press release.
Firaxis is leaving not only Solomon, but also the head of the entire studio, Steve Martin. He will be replaced by Heather Hazen, who has been with Firaxis since 2020 as chief operating officer. But in the gaming industry as such, she has been working for 22 years, for example, she was an executive producer of the popular Fortnite battle royale at Epic Games, she also worked on Plants vs. Zombies in PopCap games.
However, players will probably be most interested in the announcement that Hazen subsequently came up with – a new part of the Civilization turn-based strategy series is in development.
“I have been fortunate to work with some of the best developers in our industry, and we have plans to take the Civilization series to an exciting new level for our millions of players around the world. In the meantime, we will continue to support Marvel’s Midnight Suns with post-launch content and explore new creative projects for our teams.” Hazen says.
The post of creative director of the new part of Civilization will continue to be occupied by Ed Beach, who led the development of the most recent sixth part since 2016. However, we don’t have any additional information yet, and it will probably take some time. before the game is released.
