A League of Legends pro at the Chinese LPL is being investigated after incriminating reports showed him match-fixing. LGD Gaming midfielder Chen ‘Jay’ Bo has been reported by his team to the LPL, who will now carry out a full investigation.

news first Kevin Kim from KorizonJay said he “contacted an unknown person to deliberately lose some LPL games” in the Spring Split. Screenshots of messages allegedly exchanged between Jay and a third party and translated into English by Dexerto were posted on Chinese social media site Weibo by an anonymous account. Although there are several trades, Jay appears to be involved in a match against Top Esports.

Reports may suggest that Jay isn’t the only one affected either. A message mentions a “teammate” who can help him in a particular scenario. However, no other LGD members have been identified or reported at this time.

LGD confirmed in a Weibo post that Jay, one of four players signed as part of the roster overhaul last December, is under investigation. As LGD finished last in the Spring Split, these investigations will not affect the LPL Playoffs currently underway. LGD finished the split with a weak record of 3-13.

Unfortunately, match fixing in Chinese League of Legends is nothing new. Last year, 38 LDL players and coaches, both in the LPL and lower league, were banned from participating in match-fixing during a wide-ranging investigation.
