Nintendo Announces and Releases Metroid Prime Remastered

The Japanese company announced last night on Nintendo Direct Metroid Prime Remastered. The game was released exclusively on Switch early this morning and is being sold digitally for 999 CZK (€40). The physical edition is promised for 02/22/2023.

You won’t find Metroid Prime in the remastered version. no new content. Instead, there are improved visuals and different control options depending on the player’s preferences. We still don’t know if Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will be updated on Switch. As regards the development of a new Metroid Prime 4 it’s entirely possible that the entire trilogy will end up on the Switch.

If you don’t know if a remaster is worth it, take a look at detailed comparison. The game runs at a constant 60 frames per second. You play 612p on a portable device, but on a TV dock you get 900p.

As you can see, the developers have prepared new textures, improved geometry, created a new lighting system, added post-processing effects and tweaked physics, including water physics.

Metroid Prime was released in 2002 on the GameCube by Retro Studios.
